Provider’s Statement of Service(s):
Blue Ridge Humane Society is dedicated to ensuring the high-test quality of life for animals in Henderson County and our Neighboring communities through adoption, outreach, and educations. We envision a community that embraces the protection, compassionate care, and high-test quality of life for animals. We are around to offer the following services that help people remain in their homes as they age:
Owning a pet is scientifically proven to make the pet owner healthier and boost their quality of life. Council on Aging for Henderson County currently serves over 100 pet owners through their Meals on Wheels program, Blue Ridge Humane Society firmly believes in keeping together loving pet owners with their pets. Through our Meals on Wheels Pet Pals Program we pet food, basic socialization, flea and tick prevention, litter, spray/neuter services, and treat medical conditions of the pets living with Meals on Wheel recipients. Through this service we not only improve the quality of life for pets, but also keep them in loving homes.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back, increasing physical activity, enjoy social interactions, learn new skills, and reduce stress, loneliness, and isolation. We appreciate our volunteers and recognize they are essential part of the Blue Ridge Humane family. Our Volunteer Program offers a wide variety of opportunities to use your uniques talents and skills to enhance the quality of life for animals in Henderson County.

Our Seniors for Seniors adoption program allows our senior neighbors of age 65 and older to adopt senior pets with waived adoption fees. This program seeks to reduce barriers to adoption and help harder-to-place animals find homes with individuals who ay not have thought of adopting in the past. We hope to find loving homes for senior pets who typically stay at our Adoption Center longer than others. Studies show that owning a pet reduces stress and lowers your blood pressure. We hope that not only will we find homes for some of the animals in our care quicker, but that we will also be able to more easily provide the love and joy of owning a pet to members of our community who may not have thought of rescuing.

Program eligibility is simple: just confirm your age to have your fee waived at the time of your adoption. To learn more about adoptions and see if the discount works for you, contact Brittany at adopt@blueridgehumane.org
